Topic: Difficulty communicating between two VPS 's

I noticed the problem this afternoon not connecting to each-other (VPS). I cannot ping, ssh either way. I can between a third however with both so I was wondering if it had something to do with a server the two might reside on.

Re: Difficulty communicating between two VPS 's

This can be due to many reasons, including firewalls and routing.

Re: Difficulty communicating between two VPS 's

I'm still working on it. I hashed everything in rc.conf but networking and sshd. Then in boot/loader.conf and sysctl.ctl in both machines. And I still have no network (communication to eachother) between the two.

Routing I always assumed was automatic and I don't have any experience with it. I think I'll try removing sshd and try again but routing I'm hesitant.

Re: Difficulty communicating between two VPS 's

The only routing that is automatic is routing to the default gateway, beyond that is out of your control and could be where the issue is, traceroute will give insight if routing is an issue.

Re: Difficulty communicating between two VPS 's

I had no netmask setup on both. So I copied the settings from a VPS that was fine.

netmask 255.255.255.192

And it works now.
